Terms of Service
Last updated: April 14, 2026
Welcome to ChangePulse. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ChangePulse website, APIs, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by ChangePulse ("we", "us", or "our"). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using ChangePulse in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
ChangePulse is a website change monitoring platform that periodically fetches and analyzes web pages to detect content changes. The Service provides:
- Automated monitoring — scheduled checks of user-specified URLs at configurable intervals
- Change detection — intelligent diffing that identifies what content was added, removed, or modified
- Multi-channel alerts — notifications delivered via email, webhooks, and Slack when changes are detected
- JavaScript rendering — optional headless browser rendering for pages that rely on client-side JavaScript
- CSS selector filtering — ability to monitor a specific portion of a page rather than the entire document
- API access — programmatic access to monitors, changes, and configuration via our REST API
3. Account Registration and Security
To use most features of ChangePulse, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password, or by authenticating through Google OAuth. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information
- Maintain and promptly update your account information to keep it accurate
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials and API keys
- Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or that we reasonably believe have been compromised.
4. Subscription Plans and Billing
ChangePulse offers multiple subscription tiers:
- Free Plan — limited monitors, longer check intervals, basic alert options, 7-day change history
- Starter Plan ($9/month) — increased monitor capacity, shorter check intervals, webhook and Slack alerts, 30-day history
- Pro Plan ($29/month) — highest monitor limits, 1-minute check intervals, all alert channels, unlimited history, JavaScript rendering, CSS selectors
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through our payment processor (Polar.sh). All fees are stated in US dollars and are non-refundable except as required by law or as described below. When upgrading mid-cycle, the prorated difference is charged immediately. You may cancel your subscription at any time; your paid features will remain active until the end of the current billing period.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' advance notice. Price changes will apply at the start of your next billing cycle after the notice period.
5. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use ChangePulse only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms. Specifically, you must not:
- Monitor URLs in violation of the target website's terms of service, robots.txt directives, or applicable law
- Configure monitors that generate excessive requests intended to overwhelm, degrade, or disrupt target websites
- Use the Service to scrape, harvest, or collect personal data from monitored pages without proper legal basis
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limitations or abuse free-tier allowances
- Attempt to access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of the Service, our systems, or our providers' systems
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use the Service to send unsolicited messages (spam) via webhooks or other alert channels
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service without our written consent
Violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, logos, and documentation, is owned by ChangePulse and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
You retain all rights to the URLs you submit and the monitor configurations you create. We do not claim ownership of the content of third-party websites monitored through the Service.
7. Data and Content
ChangePulse stores cached snapshots of monitored page content solely for the purpose of performing change comparisons. Cached content is subject to the retention limits of your subscription plan. We do not use monitored page content for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.
You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the right to monitor any URL you add to the Service. We are not responsible for the accuracy, legality, or availability of third-party content.
8. Service Availability and SLA
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Monitoring checks may be delayed, missed, or produce temporary errors during maintenance windows, infrastructure incidents, or force majeure events. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned maintenance.
We are not liable for any damages resulting from service interruptions, delayed alerts, or missed changes. The Service is provided for informational monitoring purposes and should not be relied upon as the sole mechanism for mission-critical change detection without appropriate redundancy.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHANGEPULSE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
Our aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ChangePulse and its affiliates, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights; or (d) content you monitor through the Service.
11. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time through the Settings page. Upon termination, your monitors will be deactivated and your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause, if we determine that you have violated these Terms or if continued use poses a risk to the Service or other users. Where possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export your data before permanent deletion.
12. Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ChangePulse operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, either party may pursue binding arbitration under the rules of a mutually agreed arbitration body. You agree to waive any right to a jury trial or class action.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to your registered address and/or through a prominent notice on the Service at least 14 days before taking effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you must stop using the Service and terminate your account.
14. Miscellaneous
- Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ChangePulse regarding the Service.
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
- Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
